Come molti altri bambini rifugiati nei campi dell'Algeria, Zrug ha lasciato la sua casa a soli otto anni per ricevere un'istruzione a Cuba. È ritornato soltanto 16 anni dopo, ma ha scoperto che sua madre era morta da 6 anni. Ha deciso di restare comunque nel suo paese, per partecipare attivamente alla lotta per la liberazione del suo popolo.

Like many refugee children in the camps of Algeria, Zrug left home when he was only eight years old in search of education in Cuba. After 16 years, he returned home only to find that his mother died 6 years earlier, but he still decided to stay on and actively participate in their fight for liberation of his people.
