Biografia - Biography:
Nato a Versailles, Franck Dion ha fatto buon uso del suo talento in molteplici settori. Ha preso lezioni di recitazione prima all'American Centre e poi al Théâtre de l'Archet.
Nel frattempo è diventato un appassionato di cinema e ha imparato da autodidatta a scolpire, disegnare e dipingere. Collabora con montatori come Gallimard e Asmodée, e anche con riviste come "Science&Vie Junior", "Ciel et Espace" e "Casus Belli".
Le sue opere, mescolanze di fotografie, sculture e disegni, parlano di universi fantastici in cui la poesia si intreccia al grottesco. Recita ancora in teatro e progetta il fondale di scena per una pièce basata sul Fantasma di Canterville di Oscar Wilde.
Negli anni Novanta realizza per conto di alcune agenzie pubblicitarie delle piccole animazioni per pubblicizzare delle aziende. Realizza anche le animazioni per il documentario Gloire aux ânes, diretto da Maryse Bergonza e prodotto da Arte e SZ productions. Nel 1999 vince il premio SACD di Annecy per il miglior progetto con Avez-vous une âme?. Nel 2003 lavora come regista, sceneggiatore e animatore alla realizzazione del suo primo cortometraggio di animazione Phantom Inventory, che l'anno seguente vince il premio della giuria junior per il miglior cortometraggio al festival di Annecy e riceve una nomination per il "Cartoons of gold". Frank Dion ha appena concluso il suo secondo cortometraggio Monsieur COK e al momento sta lavorando a nuovi entusiasmanti progetti.
Born in Versailles, Franck Dion makes good use of his talent in multiple areas. He takes lessons to become an actor in the American Center, then in the Théâtre de l'Archet. At the same time, he becomes passionate about cinema and learns by himself to sculpt, to draw and to paint. He works with editors like Gallimard, Asmodée, and also with magazines like Science&Vie Junior, Ciel et Espace and Casus Belli. His drawings, mixing photographs, sculptures and drawings, speak of fantastic universes where poetry is entangled with the grotesque. He still plays roles on stage and imagine the scenery for play based on the Canterville Ghost from Oscar Wilde.
In the 90s, he creates for advertising companies small animation movies to promote commercial companies. He also makes the animations of the documentary film Gloire aux ânes directed by Maryse Bergonza, produced by Arte and SZ productions. In 1999, he wins the SACD Prize at Annecy for the best project, with Avez-vous une âme? (Do you have a soul?). He works as a director, writer and animator, in 2003, on the Phantom Inventory animation film, his first short film which wins, the following year, the Junior Jury Canal J Prize in the Annecy Festival, as well as being nominated to the Cartoons of gold. Franck Dion has just finished his second short-film Mister COK and is currently working on exciting new projects.
