Gypsy Summer offre uno sguardo nella vita di una famiglia gitana che ogni giorno ripulisce la spiaggia prima dell'arrivo dei turisti. Tra i rifiuti e la durezza della loro vita, trovano comunque un modo di vedere la bellezza dell'alba e godersi questa "vita, questa breve vita".
Gypsy Summer is a glimpse into the life of a gypsy family who clean up the beach every morning before the tourists arrive. Among the trash and hardship of their life, they still find a way to see the beauty of the sunrise and enjoy this "life, short life".
Biografia - Biography:
Born in communist Sofia, Bulgaria in February 1980, Kristina grew up in a family of cinematographers. At age 17 she left her small country to attend the University of Chicago where she got her BA in film theory. In 2002 she moved to LA where she worked as a cinematographer on various action/thriller films. Kristina was chosen to DP her first 35mm feature film Goodbye Hello in 2003, which won best film awards in festivals in San Francisco, Boston, and NY. Then she collaborated with a well-known Bulgarian director on two award-winning feature documentaries for which they had to live for months in drug communes in the mountains. Recently Kristina produced an Italian/Bulgarian feature and directed and produced an award winning short film. In 2006 she co-produced When Nietzsche Wept starring Armand Assante and Oscar nominee Ben Cross. In fall 2007 she started the NYU Graduate Tisch Film program.
