Part Of The Weekend Never Dies è un documentario sui tour che negli ultimi i tre anni hanno visto i Soulwax impegnati in programmazione, promozione, DJ set e concerti live ogni sera, con una schiera di amici e con alcuni dei più esaltanti tra gli artisti contemporanei. Un viaggio incessante per il mondo, con il nome di 'Radio Soulwax'.
Il materiale per il documentario è stato filmato utilizzando una sola telecamera durante 120 concerti in Europa, Giappone, Stati Uniti, America Latina e Australia. L'affermato regista Saam Farahmand e i Soulwax hanno co-diretto due film: il primo è Part Of The Weekend Never Dies - un documentario che immortala gli eccessi, il cinismo, la ridicolaggine, le contraddizioni, lo sfinimento e lo humour della vita di DJ e band 'on the road'. Il documentario comprende dei live di 2manydj's e Soulwax Nite Versions, ma anche backstage e interviste di James Murphy, Nancy Whang, Erol Alkan, Tiga, Justice, Busy P, So-Me, Peaches, Kitsuné & Klaxons e altri. Il secondo film live cattura perfettamente la beata e bella cattiveria sonora della guerra lampo delle Nite Versions dei Soulwax.
Part Of The Weekend Never Dies is a documentary on the touring entity that for the past three years has seen Soulwax programming and promoting, DJ'ing and playing live every night with a revolving array of their friends and some of the most exciting artists today, travelling relentlessly around the world under the 'Radio Soulwax' banner.
Recorded during 120 shows using one camera across Europe, Japan, the US, Latin America and Australia. Acclaimed director Saam Farahmand and Soulwax co-directed 2 films: the first is Part Of The Weekend Never Dies - a documentary that captures the excess, cynicism, delusion, ridiculousness, contradiction, exhaustion and humour of the life of DJs and bands on the road. The documentary includes live footage of 2manydj's and Soulwax Nite Versions, and also includes James Murphy, Nancy Whang, Erol Alkan, Tiga, Justice, Busy P, So-Me, Peaches, Kitsuné & Klaxons, amongst others, in behind the scenes footage and interviews. The second, live film captures perfectly the blissful & beautiful sonic malevolence of Soulwax's Nite Versions blitzkrieg. Saam has made acclaimed promo videos for the likes of Janet Jackson, Hot Chip, Hercules & Love Affair, Late of the Pier and Lightspeed Champion and last year collaborated with Klaxons on four videos, winning the CAD Music Week Award for Best Director along the way and is one of the UK's most innovative young film makers.
Londoner Saam studied art at Goldsmiths where he made trashy paintings, sculptures, and videos.After leaving art school, he showed his work in various exhibitions, created a live A/V show, experimented with stage visuals (working with bands such as The Rapture, Clor and Zongamin), and made countless shorts for MTV, all of which drew the attention of Partizan. Since signing to Partizan, Saam has been busy making videos for the likes of Klaxons, Janet Jackson, Simian Mobile Disco, and Lightspeed Champion.
His work has also been featured in Arena, The Observer, Dazed & Confused, I-D, Dummy, Pitchfork, Promo, Boards, Creative Review and the NME, which dubbed him the 6th most important person today "driving music forward" - out of 50.
