Originally conceived as a sequence in The Meaning of Life, it became a separate short film, to be shown ahead of the feature. In The Crimson Permanent Assurance the elderly, exploited employees of a London-based assurance firm rebel against their bosses. A turning point in GilliamÕs career, this short marked his transition from the Monty Python's sketch-based humour to the visionary style that characterizes Gilliam's later works.
