This documentary is one of the few testimonies of the brutal repression by Burma's military regime: a group of Burmese reporters follow the Buddhist monks in their peaceful march against the dictatorship. Thousands of people leave their houses spontaneously and flow through the streets like a river breaking its banks. They join the Buddhist monks in their hymns and prayers. The military junta reacts with streets blocks and curfews, and bludgeoning and putting the demonstrators under arrest. Journalists and foreigners are expelled and the country is closed off. The young Burmese reporters come back into the streets, camouflaging their cameras and risking their lives. The streets are now full of tanks, as the riot police savagely beat people, and soldiers fire on the crowd. One of the reporters manages to flee to Thailand, from where these most audacious shots start their secret journey to Denmark. Filmmaker Anders Oestergaard tells us how they have come to him.
