Un paesaggio desolato e abbandonato. Un'automobile percorre un tornante, sbandando e andando fuori strada, ma senza cadere. Poi l'auto passa per un campo minato, e resiste alle esplosioni. Non siamo in grado di dire se c'è o no un'autista. Una canzone metal traduce lo spirito di questo corto: "è tutto calcolato, il sistema ti ingabbia. Fottetevi! Vi faccio esplodere con le mie bombe". Alla fine, l'auto semidistrutta e in "fin di vita", si è guadagnata la libertà, forse... Una metafora emozionante, che ha punti di contatto con Duel di Spielberg imbevuti nel "liquido magico" dello sperimentalismo finlandese, dove le regole della narrazione tradizionale vengono costantemente ribaltate. Tutto ciò che vedete nel corto è stato realizzato dal vero.
In a desert and abandoned landscape a car gets around a hairpin bend, skiding yet managing not to fall off. Then the car goes through a minefield and endures the explosions. We can't tell if there is a driver or not. A metal song conveys this short film's spirit : "everything is calculated, the system cages you. Fuck you! I'll make you explode with my bombs". In the end the half-destroyed car, is just about to "die" yet it has gained its freedom - maybe... It is an emotional metaphor which shares some Spielberg's Duel's elements and is dipped in that "magical liquid" typical of Finnish experimental filmmaking, where the traditional narration rules are constantly overturned.
Note di regia / Director's StatementUp And About Again is an abstract description of inner feelings, narrated through special effects, pyrotechnics and high-speed images. The dramatic suspense is in the visual and logical contradiction; a snowy car speeds in slow motion through a summer landscape. The impression is also one of absurdity: the car is at once pitiful and courageous, fast and slow, a survivor and a loser, so should you cry or laugh?

Praised as fascinating and open to a multitude of interpretations, Suomi-Väänänen's awarded works have toured from San Fransisco to Hanti-Mansisjk, appearing in exhibitions, at festivals and on television.
