Questa è la storia di un uomo che a un certo punto della sua vita ha deciso di non voler sapere più nulla, e di dimenticare tutto quello che già sapeva. E che a un certo punto però, si è trovato di fronte a un dilemma: come è possibile decidere di non voler conoscere una cosa se prima non la si conosce? Un rinoceronte lo salverà. Girato in un bianco e nero potente e cupo, il film strappa più di un sorriso, ma soprattutto fa riflettere su un tema che ha appassionato i filosofi fin dall'antichità: quello della conoscenza.
This is the story of a man who, at a point in his life, decides that he does not want to know anything anymore, and tries to forget everything he already knows. Yet he has to face a dilemma: how can you decide that you do not want to know something if you do not know it? A rhinoceros will save him. The film, shot in a powerful, deep black and white, will make you smile more than once, and above all it will make you think about a topic that has challenged philosophers ever since the dawn of time: knowledge.
Note di regia / Director's Statement.The man who didn't want to know anything any more' is based on a short story of the same name by Swiss author Peter Bichsel. Published in 1969 in a volume of the author's stories for children, this cryptic tale about the nature of knowing has long since fascinated me. Whatever meaning the author wanted to express, for me it represents a thoughtfull reminder to stop pondering about life in theory and instead expand our awareness of the wonderfull moment that is surrounding us: now. It's seems to be a sad story at first, but it turns out to be a happy one.
