Sinossi / Synopsis
Mario è un gallero: alleva galli da combattimento. È abituato alla solitudine: passa giorni interi in compagnia solo dei suoi galli, e campa facendo strani lavori in diverse zone rurali dell'Argentina. Durante uno di questi viaggi, molto lontano da casa, incontra Julia, una donna che ha perso la famiglia in un incidente molto tempo prima. Anche lei è sola, aspetta la morte e cerca consolazione nella fede. Lui riscopre la bellezza di leggere nelle sue emozioni, lei quella di oltrepassare ogni limite. Fanno un patto, per poi romperlo.
Due personaggi che si muovono incerti e che si ritrovano per ragioni insondabili. Due personaggi che seguono istinti primordiali, come due animali. Mario e Julia non sono molto abituati a condividere le cose della vita con altre persone: perciò, quando si incontrano, quando sbattono l'uno contro l'altra, non sanno bene cosa sta succedendo. Non sanno se permettere che succeda, e comunque non riconoscono cosa sia. Si comportano in modo scomposto, e per forza qualcosa si complica. Reagiscono come possono, come ognuno cerca di fare quando c'è di mezzo l'amore, quando si oltrepassa la sottile linea tra la passione e il dolore.
Il respiro drammatico che attraversa il film si consolida grazie alla forza plastica delle immagini, che crea un mondo che è radicato, quasi ancorato, all'assurdità delle cose e all'incapacità umana di comprenderle. Sergio Mazza è un regista argentino di 33 anni che tra l'altro ama sperimentare nuovi linguaggi, insegnare cinema e suonare la batteria.

Mario is a gallero: he breeds gamecocks. He is used to loneliness. As a matter of fact, he spends entire days just with his cocks and manages to get by with unusual jobs around several rural areas of Argentina. During one of these trips, far away from home, he meets Julia - a woman whose family died in an accident a long time before. She is lonely too; she is just waiting for death to come and seeks comfort in faith. Mario re-discovers the thrill of emotion; while Julia discovers how beautiful it is to cross all limits. They make a deal, to then break it. The film tells the story of two characters who act unpredictably and get along with each other for incomprehensible reasons. Two characters who follow primitive instincts, just like animals do. Both are not very accustomed to sharing their life experiences with others: that is why, when they meet, when they bump into one another, they actually do not realize what is really going on. They do not know whether they should just let it be, and in any case, they do not understand what it is. They act inconsistently, and by force of circumstances, everything gets more complicated. They react as best as they can, as everyone does when it comes to love, when one crosses the thin line between passion and pain. The filmÕs dramatic aspects gain force thanks to the strength of the beautiful cinematography, which creates a rooted world - a world almost anchored into the absurdity of things and into the human inability to comprehend them. Sergio Mazza, 33, is an Argentinian filmmaker who, among other things, loves to experiment with new forms of filmmaking, teach cinema, and play drums.

Biografia/Biography: Sergio Mazza si è diplomato all'Università di Buenos Aires con una laurea in design dell'immagine e sound design, frequentando molti corsi e seminari specialistici. Si è dedicato poi alla regia, inizialmente per la pubblicità, e alla sceneggiatura, scrivendo per il teatro. Suona anche la batteria. Ha tenuto per alcuni anni il corso di Regia e Teoria ed estetica dei Media all'Università di Buenos Aires. Nel novembre del 2004 ha fondato la casa di produzione Masa Latina, con l'obiettivo di creare prodotti artistici che mescolino differenti media. Al suo interno ha prodotto il suo primo lungometraggio El amarillo, presentato alla Settimana della Critica della 63° Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica di Venezia. Gallero è stato presentato in anteprima mondiale al Festival di Mar del Plata nel marzo 2009, dove ha vinto premio per il il Miglior Attore. Attualmente sta lavorando al suo terzo film, Graba.
Sergio Mazza completed his studies at the University of Buenos Aires, majoring in Image and Sound Design and followed many art-specific courses and seminars. He dedicated himself to directing, first in the advertisement field, and then to the screenplay writing for the stage. He also plays drums. For some years, he taught Directing Actors and Theory & Aesthetics in the Media at the University of Buenos Aires. In November 2004, he set up the production house Masa Latina - with the main goal of creating artistic products by mixing different types of media - in which he produced his first feature film El Amarillo (The Yellow). This first work was invited to Settimana Internazionale della Critica within the 63rd Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica in Venice. Gallero participated in the Latin-American film festival of Mar del Plata where it won the prize for the Best actor. He now works on his third film, Graba.
