Il Canada pacifista? L'imbroglio mediatico del governo canadese.
I media e i vari governi promuovono le missioni di pace il cui contenuto umanitario viene esaltato e quello bellico giustificato. In nome della pace truppe speciali, armate a dovere, sono inviate nelle zone di guerra per salvaguardare gli interessi geopolitici dei Paesi Nato, come del Canada. Il bilancio di questi interventi sono il triste necrologio di morti civili in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Ruanda, Sudan e Haiti, solo alcuni dei tanti che pesano sulla coscienza collettiva. Le banche, l'industria bellica, la Difesa canadese, le agenzie per lo sviluppo e le multinazionali traggono un profitto vertiginoso da queste missioni. Profitto che moltiplicano con la ricostruzione dei Paesi distrutti e "pacificati". Amy Miller, attivista e documentarista, ci porta nei paesi "soccorsi" da queste missioni. In Canada intervista persone che credono nella favola di un Paese portatore di pace.
The pacifist Canada? The media cheat of the Canadian government.
The media and the various governments promote peace missions, where the humanitarian content is exalted and the war content justified. In the name of peace, special troops, armed as required, are sent to war zones to protect the geopolitical interests of NATO countries, such as Canada. The result of these actions are the sad lists of civilian deaths in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Ruanda, Sudan and Haiti, only some of the many that weigh on the collective conscience. The banks, the war industry, the Canadian Defence, the agencies for development and the multinationals gain staggering benefits from these missions. And this profit is multiplied with the reconstruction of the countries that have been destroyed and "pacified". Amy Miller, a militant and documentary maker, takes us to the countries "helped" by these missions. In Canada, she interviews people who believe in the fairy tale of a country that brings peace.
