Si domanda divertito un contadino dello Zambia che rifiuta pomodori ogm. Gli scienziati cheÊnegano l'innocuità dei prodotti modificati vengono messi a tacere dalle multinazionali agricole e da molti governi, sollevati dall'incarico, la loro credibilità distrutta. La campagna mediatica a favore degli ogm, sostenuta da scienziati comprati, insospettisce. Se l'ogm è innocuo perché sabotare la ricerca scientifica? L'industria alimentare brevetta semi e prodotti modificati impedendo cos“ una ricerca pubblica e indipendente. L'alimentazione di noi tutti è nelle mani delle corporation cosiddette biotecnologiche che producono sementi e foraggi, insetticidi e fertilizzanti, gestiscono i raccolti e la commercializzazione, e ci tengono all'oscuro delle loro manipolazioni su piante e animali. L'industria alimentare e quella farmaceutica sono amministrate con smisurato profitto dalle stesse multinazionali. ÈÊpossibile che una provochi il cancro e l'altra lo curi?

Does a tomato behave like a fish?
This is what a peasant in Zambia wonders, refusing GMO tomatoes. Scientists who deny that modified tomatoes are harmless are silenced by the agricultural multinationals and many governments, removed from their positions and their credibility destroyed. The media campaign in favour of GMO, supported by scientists who have been bought, raises suspicions. If GMO is innocuous, then why sabotage scientific research? The food industry patents modified seeds and products thus preventing public and independent research. The food all of us eat is in the hands of the so-called biotechnological corporations which produce seeds and fodder, insecticides and fertilizers, manage the crops and their sale, and keep us in the dark regarding their manipulations on plants and animals. The food and the pharmaceutical industries are run with disproportionate profit by the same multinationals. Is it possible that one causes cancer and the other one cures it? The director and author Bertram Verhaag follows at global level the work and research of scientists. He gives us a worrying account of the journey of food products from the land to our table.

Bertram Verhaag è nato a Sosnowitz (Alta Slesia, Polonia) e ha studiato sociologia ed economia. Ha lavorato come freelance presso il dipartimento di sviluppo urbano a Monaco per tre anni. Dal 1972 al 1975 ha frequentato il Munich College of Film e Television. Nel 1976 ha fondato la DENKmal-Film Production con Claus Strigel.
