Sinossi / Synopsis
Maggio 2009, Danimarca: un gruppo di Iracheni richiedenti asilo si rifugia in una chiesa per evitare l'espulsione dal paese. Molti di loro vivono a Copenaghen da anni, hanno una famiglia, figli nati in Danimarca. Il 13 agosto 2009 il governo decide di usare la forza: interviene la polizia, che sgombera la chiesa e carica i manifestanti pacifici radunati all'esterno. Questo è il racconto di quello che è successo, quasi interamente autofinanziato dal regista.
May 2009, Denmark: a group of asylum-seeking Iraqis take refuge in a church to avoid being deported. Many of them have lived in Copenhagen for years and their children were born in Denmark. On 13th August 2009, the givernnment decided to use force: the police intervene, clear the church and turn on the peaceful demonstrators who have gathered outside. This is the story of what happened, almost fully self-financed by the director.

This documentary portrays people who try to stand up for their dignity, and families who are thorn apart by the state of Denmark. In 2009 the Danish government decided to expel a large group of refugees from Iraq, many of whom had been in Denmark for years, some with children born in Denmark. A group of around 70 tried to take refugee in a Church in central Copenhagen. They feared for their life and future if they returned to Iraq. The case became a major political and public issue in Denmark. After 3 months the Danish government one night sent armed police forces into the silence of the church and cleared it by power. The churches of Denmark were no longer a safe and sacred room. My movie is a statement of how the state of Denmark in august 2009 denied the possibility of human dignity.
