Sinossi / Synopsis
Un lui, una lei, un hotel silenzioso e i Mondiali di calcio del 2002. Tra un décor curatissimo e atmosfere emotive orientali, pacate e trattenute, tra due persone nasce una relazione inaspettata, fatta di gesti e assenze che comunicano. Il regista Anthony Chen sa creare un'atmosfera rarefatta per raccontarci la vittoria di una ragazza timida, portiera di un albergo, sull'anima di un gigol` che lavora in una stanza dell'hotel. La cronaca di una partita decisiva, quella delle emozioni..
A him, a her, a silent hotel and the 2002 World Cup. With a very carefully designed decor and subdued and emotional oriental atmospheres, an unexpected relationship is created between two people, with gestures and absences that communicate. Director Anthony Chen is able to create a rarified atmosphere to tell us the story of the victory of a shy girl, a receptionist in a hotel, over the soul of a gigolo who works in a room in the hotel. The chronicle of a decisive match, that of the emotions.

"Hotel 66 seems to be an extension of the theme of loneliness I explored in my first short film G-23 many years ago. Yet it is the first time I have really delved into the complex emotion of love and affection. I have always believed in the strength of the human condition - to bond, connect and communicate, often in the strangest of ways. Hotel 66 is born out of this and a playful combination of other ideas - curiosity, voyeurism, sexual tension, gender stereotyping."

Anthony Chen si è iscritto alla scuola di film di Singapore alla giovane età di 17 anni, per seguire la sua passione per la regia. Si è diplomato col film-saggio, G-23, che è stato proiettato a numerosi festival in tutto il mondo e ha vinto premi in Europa e Asia. Il suo secondo corto, Ah Ma (Grandma), è stato nominato per la Palma d'Oro al miglior corto al 60esimo Festival di Cannes e si è assicurato una Menzione Speciale, permettendogli di diventare il primo regista di Singapore ad essere premiato a Cannes. Haze rappresenta il suo terzo sforzo come regista di corti ed è stato nominato per l'Orso d'Oro al 58esimo Festival Internazionale di Berlino. Born in 1984 in Singapore, Anthony Chen enrolled in film school in Singapore at an early age of 17 to pursue his passion for filmmaking. He graduated from film school with his graduation film, G-23, which screened at multiple festivals worldwide and won awards in Europe and Asia. His second short film, Ah Ma (Grandma), was nominated for the Palme d'Or for Short Film at the 60th Cannes Film Festival, and secured a Special Mention, the first time a Singapore filmmaker was awarded in Cannes. Haze marks his third short film effort and was nominated for the Golden Bear for Short Film at the 58th Berlin International Film Festival. Collectively, his films have screened at numerous prestigious film festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, Rotterdam, Pusan, London, Sao Paulo, Stockholm, Sydney, Montreal, Melbourne, Chicago, Hawaii. In 2009, he was accorded the Young Artist Award by he National Arts Council of Singapore, one of the most prestigious accolades for the arts in Singapore. He recently completed his MA in Film Directing at the National Film and Television School, UK.
