La storia di una falena che cade nella tela del ragno. Più cerca una via d'uscita, più difficile è la salvezza. Poi, arriva il ragno, reclama la sua preda e la fa sua. Così funziona in natura. La bellezza del film, però, sta nel punto di vista, che spinge lo spettatore a sentire la relazione tra carnefice e vittima e a sperimentare l'intensità dell'attimo raccontato. Un'animazione 3D che esplora in profondità le leggi dell'universo e delle relazioni tra le cose del mondo. E che è puro piacere per gli occhi.

The story of a moth that falls into a cobweb. The more it looks for a way out, the more difficult escape is. Then the spider arrives, wants its prey and takes it. This is how it works in nature. But the beauty of the film lies in the point of view that pushes the viewer to feel the relationship between the murderer and the victim and the intensity of the second that the film relates. A 3D animation that explores in depth the laws of the universe and the relations between the things of the world. And which is a pure pleasure for the eyes.

Note di regia / Director's Statement
L'idea iniziale è quella di una falena impigliata in una ragnatela che, una volta di fronte al suo predatore, viene digerita fino a diventare lei stessa parte integrante della sua stessa trappola. Con questa storia descriviamo in modo lineare i cicli naturali sottolineandone la grandezza, sviluppando allo stesso tempo diversi filoni a livello grafico e cinematografico. Tutto è nato dal bisogno di creare una grande storia all'interno di qualcosa di molto piccolo. Loom è il nostro progetto più ambizioso e siamo curiosi di conoscere le risposte del pubblico.

The initial idea was a moth being caught in a spider's web and after facing the predator, being digested and in the end becoming an integral part of its own trap. We took the time to think about this very linear story string which is basically a description of nature's causal cycles to find out its strengths and possibilities and to developing several other strings on the graphical level as well as the cinematography and scale / time. It all came out of the urge to search for the big story inside a small one. Loom is by far our most ambitious piece yet and we are curious about the responses on it.

Il collettivo Polynoid nasce nel 2007 presso la Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg. Il trio, composto inizialmente da Jan Bitzer, Ilija Brunck e Tom Weber si è espanso nel 2009 con l'aggiunta di Csaba Letay e Fabian Pit Pross.

Design and storytelling collective Polynoid came together in 2007 while studying at Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg. Originally a trio comprising Jan Bitzer, Ilija Brunck and Tom Weber, Polynoid expanded to become a five piece in 2009 with the addition of fellow Filmakademie cohorts Csaba Letay and Fabian 'Pit' Pross.
