Sinossi / Synopsis
Arte d'altri tempi, sorprendentemente attuale.
A Swiss family on a Mediterranean beach. Beyond the notice marking the tourist area, the children discover people who have to hide so that they can live. But the tide washes everything away, shuffles the deck and unites what was divided.
Miramare is a parable on differences in poetic tones and in an atmosphere of limbo. Michaela Mller from Switzerland, who studies in Zagreb, has created this atmosphere by painting on glass and generating the animation from the succession of brushstrokes. Art from another time, surprisingly modern.
Note di regia / Director's Statement
On southern Mediterranean coasts, the external borders of Europe, tourists relax in defined holiday resorts, while "illegal" immigrants, almost invisible, struggle to get a chance for a better life. The methods Europe defending its borders against immigration are getting more severe and exceed humanitarian basic laws. Fear of losing wealth is turning into paranoia. Children of such societies grow up in a climate of mistrust towards everything unknown. I think that this kind of fear is a disease we got used to an extent that it seems to be normal.
