Sinossi / Synopsis
Una famiglia ossessivamente ancorata alla scomparsa di un figlio, di un fratello. Silenzi, sguardi e consuetudini che raccontano rimorsi, rimpianti, frustrazioni. Quanto è sottile il confine che separa un abbraccio unilaterale da una lotta? Eicke Bettinga reinventa l'elaborazione di un lutto, partendo da un dolore soffuso per esplodere infine in un climax in cui l'unico linguaggio che sembra avere ancora senso è quello dei corpi.
A family that is obsessively anchored to the loss of a son or a brother. Silences, gazes and habits that relate remorse, regrets and frustrations. How fine is the line that separates a unilateral embrace from a struggle? Eicke Bettinga reinvents the elaboration of a loss, starting from suffused grief to explode in a climax where the only language that still seems to have any meaning is that of the body.

"In questo film volevo esplorare cosa accade quando l'affetto incontra la forza e come questo si può comunicare con un linguaggio non verbale. Il conflitto tra padre e figlio è il climax della storia e volevo far esplodere tutte le emozioni represse accumulate fino a quel momento."
"In this film I wanted to explore what happens when affection meets physical force and how this is communicated in a non-verbal way. The 'fight' between father and son is the climax of the story and I wanted to have all the bottled up emotions accumulate at that point."

Biografia/Biography
Eicke Bettinga ha studiato regia alla National Film and Television School in Inghilterra, dove ha realizzato molti cortometraggi pluripremiati. Il suo progetto di laurea Shearing è stato selezionato per Cinfondation a Cannes nel 2002. Dopo numerosi altri cortometraggi e documentari, Eicke ha diretto la serie televisiva Trust.Wohltat nel 2007. Nel 2009 il suo ultimo cortometraggio Together è stato premiato nella Semaine de la Critique di Cannes. Eicke Bettinga lavora sia in Inghilterra che in Germania, e al momento sta lavorando al suo primo lungometraggio.
Eicke Bettinga studied directing at the National Film and Television School in Great Britain where we made several award winning short films. His graduation short Shearing was selected for Cinfondation in Cannes 2002. After several further shorts and a documentary, Eicke directed the television sci-fi drama Trust.Wohltat in 2007. His latest short Together premiered for the 2009 Cannes Semaine de la Critique. Eicke Bettinga works both in Great Britain and in Germany and is currently developing his debut feature.
