Sinossi / Synopsis
Tien'anmen, 1989: la foto simbolo delle proteste e dei massacri, in Cina non la conosce quasi nessuno; o fa finta di non riconoscerla, non ne vuole parlare, nega di averla mai vista. Liu Wei, artista sopravvissuto a quei giorni, gira per Pechino mostrando la foto a passanti di tutte le etˆ, in un tentativo di ricostruire e recuperare la memoria di una nazione costruita sulla cancellazione di quel trauma, che non vuole ricordare, vedere, elaborare. Un'operazione che sarebbe utile anche nel nostro paese.
Tien'anmen, 1989: in China, hardly anybody is familiar with the symbolic photo of the protests and massacres; they pretend not to recognize it, they do not want to talk about it or they deny ever having seen it. Liu Wei, an artist who survived those days, goes round Beijing showing the photo to passers-by of all ages, in an attempt to reconstruct and save the memory of a nation built on the cancellation of that trauma, that does not want to remember, see or elaborate its grief. A similar sort of operation would also be useful in Italy.

"I shod some photos in 1989 year, Those images saved my memory. The existences of these images remind me of the past so we will not forget the history. When I feel sad and painful in memories, when I experience loneliness and helplessness, I hope I can express this personal feeling use images. I hope these images wake your memories, get back people consciousness. Yes, I hope so.ÊHis works are closely related to personal experience and history memory, as well as the reality and rapidly changing history of contemporary China."

Liu Wei è nato nel 1965, è un artista indipendente che vive e lavora a Pechino. Si è laureato alla China Central Academy of Drama e ha completato i suoi studi nella Facoltà di Filosofia dell'Università di Pechino.
Liu Wei was born in 1965, he is an independent artist living and working in Beijing. He graduated from the China Central Academy of Drama and completed his studies at the Philosophy Department of the Beijing University.
