Lo scrittore libraio Yusuf, ormai non più giovane fa ritorno al paese natale per il funerale della madre Zehra. Nonostante non si renda conto, la sua assenza è durata anni. I luoghi sono cambiati, gli amici distanti, i parenti morti. The write and bookseller Yusuf, not as young as he once was, returns to the country of his birth for the funeral of his mother Zehra. Although he hasnŐt realised it, his absence has lasted years. The places have changed, his friends have grown distant, his parents are dead. When he meets his cousin Ayla, who took care of his mother in her final years, she leads him to reflect on his future and on the importance of family. This is a film in which the silences and the simple glances and gestures are more important than the words, which are often insignificant and empty.

Si è laureato in Cinema e Televisione presso la Facoltà di Belle Arti a Dokuz Università Eylul,nella sua città natale . Nel 1984 si trasferisce a Kaplanoglu (Istanbul) dove lavora per un paio di anni come copywriter per alcune società di pubblicità.Il suo primo film (Herkes Kendi Evinde ) vince numerosi premi partecipando a Festival Internazionali.
