Nel 1976 The Blank Generation di Amos Poe, dove appaiono Patti Smith, Blondie e i Talking Heads, diventa una pietra miliare di un nuovo modo di fare cinema. Sulla scia della Factory di Andy Warhol, l'East Side di New York diventa una fucina creativa basata sullo scambio creativo e sulla contaminazione tra linguaggi. In 1976, The Blank Generation by Amos Poe, featuring Patti Smith, Blondie and the Talking Heads, becomes a milestone in the new way of making films. In the wake of Andy Warhol's Factory, New York's East Side becomes a creative hotbed based on creative exchange and the contamination between languages. With Underground U.S.A. and in particular Stranger than Paradise by Jim Jarmusch, independent cinema, detached from commercial requirements and with a low budget, attracts international interest and even that of the public. Blank City is a detailed reconstruction of that time, full of precious archival footage and with eye-witness accounts of the leading figures of the period - including Deborah Harry, John Lurie, John Waters, Thurston Moore and Lydia Lunch.

Biografia/Biography
Céline Danhier è passata alla cinematografia dopo aver ottenuto un master's degree in legge alla Sorbona. Lavorando alla casa di produzione indipendente con base a Parigi "Les Enragés" è stata coinvolta nei processi di produzione. E' stata membro del gruppo di teatro d'avanguardia "La Compagnie Vapeur" e ha fondato un collettivo di DJ. Dopo essersi trasferita a New York nel 2006 è diventata direttrice artistica di photo shoots; si è mossa tra la moda e il cinema prima di dedicarsi alla sua propria produzione.
