Artista e polistrumentista, anima dei Lounge Lizars, tra le band più "strane" della scena mondiale, John Lurie nel 1991 realizza la sua unica opera da regista, una serie tv in sei episodi pi� simile a un mockumentary che a un reportage . In un'atmosfera totalmente rilassata Lurie, che non sa nulla di pesca, va alla ricerca di squali e altre creature marine. Lo accompagnano, a turno, gli amici JJ, Tom Waits, Matt Dillon, Willem Dafoe e Dennis Hopper, in un viaggio dal Maine alla Thailandia, passando per la Giamaica e San Josè. La pesca è il pretesto per dialogare amichevolmente con i compagni di viaggio, e le conversazioni surreali - insieme a un uso decisamente ironico dell'impianto sonoro, da serissimo documentario televisivo - generano quadretti carichi di umorismo. Uno scherzo palese diventato un grande culto nel corso degli anni.

Artist and player of many instruments, the soul of the Lounge Lizards, one of "strangest" bands on the world scene, in 1991 John Lurie made his only film as a dirctors, a TV series in six episodes more similar to a mockumentary than to a reportage . In a totally alid-back atmosphere, Lurie, who knows absolutely nothing about fishing, goes off in search of sharks and other marine creatures. He is accompanied, in turn, by his friends JJ, Tom Waits, Matt Dillon, Willem Dafoe and Dennis Hopper, on a journey from Maine too Thailand, via Jamaica and San José. Fishing is the excuse to chat with his travelling companions and the surrealist conversations - together with a definitely ironic use of the sound system, like a very serious TV documentary - generate vignettes full of humour. An evident joke which has become a great cult over the years.
