Sinossi / Synopsis
Alla stessa ora, in cinque città molto distanti fra loro, un personaggio prende un taxi e dialoga con l'autista. L'incontro/scontro tra due mondi opposti produce reazioni imprevedibili. Dopo le tre storie di Mystery Train, JJ produce un film "globale", da Los Angeles a Helsinki e passando per New York, Parigi e Roma, città significative per la sua formazione artistica, mondi che inquadra da "straniero", come è solito fare con i suoi personaggi. Realizzato non senza difficoltà produttive, Night on Earth cela, dietro l'umorismo di alcuni sketch - come quello con Roberto Benigni e Paolo Bonacelli - una riflessione sulla solitudine e sui pregiudizi, venata qua e là da qualche amarezza (come nell'episodio con Gena Rowlands, sottilmente critico nei confronti del sistema hollywoodiano).
At the same time, in five cities very far apart from one another, a character takes a taxi and talks to the driver. The encounter/conflict between two opposing worlds produces unforeseeable reactions. After the three stories of Mystery Train, JJ produces a "global" film, from Los Angeles to Helsinki via New York, Paris and Rome, significant cities for his artistic training and world which he frames as a "foreigner", as he usually does with this characters. Made with production difficulties, Night on Earth conceals, behind the sense of humour of some sketches - such as the one with Roberto Benigni and Paolo Bonacelli - a reflection on solitude and on prejudices, veined here and there with some bitterness (as in the episode with Gena Rowlands, subtly critical of the Hollywood system). .
