Sinossi / Synopsis
In una New York desolante, dove echi di esplosioni costanti minacciano una fine vicina, si aggira Aloysius Parker, detto Allie, divorato dall'indolenza e dall'insoddisfazione, che ha il "dono" di riuscire a relazionarsi con gli outsider della società. L'incontro con un viaggiatore francese gli darà il coraggio per lasciare la Grande Mela e imbarcarsi verso Parigi. JJ esordisce con un'opera ricca di rimandi autobiografici e già pervasa dell'attenzione per i "non inseriti" che popoleranno il suo cinema. Lo sguardo è contemplativo, i movimenti sono legati a precisi significati, l'influenza degli autori europei è evidente. Realizzato grazie all'aiuto di amici e artisti della scena underground newyorkese - come John Lurie e il futuro regista Tom DiCillo, fu presentato nei festival europei di Rotterdam e Mannheim.
Aloysius Parker, called Allie, devoured by indolence and dissatisfaction, wanders around a New York of desolation, where echoes of constant explosions threaten an imminent end. He has the "gift"of being able to relate with the outsiders of society. Meeting a French traveller will give him the courage to leave the Big Apple and set off for Paris. JJ makes his debut with a film rich in autobiographical references and already pervaded by attention for the "misfits" who will populate his cinema. The gaze is contemplative, the movements are linked to precise meanings and the influence of European authors is clear. Made thanks to the help of friends and artists of New York's underground scene - like John Lurie and the future director Tom DiCillo, the film was presented at the European festivals of Rotterdam and Mannheim.
