Sinossi / Synopsis
A complemento della collaborazione che porta alla colonna sonora di Dead Man, JJ realizza un documentario sui Crazy Horse, la band che ha storicamente accompagnato Neil Young nella parte più elettrica della sua carriera. "Orgogliosamente girato in Super8", come si legge nei titoli, è un mix sgranato di formati e suoni all'insegna del gusto distorto e dilatato del rock di Young. Negando ogni forma di idolatria, JJ lo tratta come uno dei membri della band, puntando - grazie a interviste dai toni pacatamente familiari - sulla relazione d'amicizia e stima tra i componenti e sui "tempi morti" del vivere in tournée. Una serie di preziose immagini d'archivio dei tour degli anni 60 e 70 è alternata a riprese contemporanee.
Complementing the collaboration leading to the soundtrack of Dead Man, JJ made a documentary on Crazy Horse, the band that historically accompanied Neil Young in the most electric part of his career. "Proudly shot in Super8", as the credits say, it is a blurry mix of formats and sounds marked by the distorted and dilated flavour of Youngs own rock music. Without any form of idolatry, JJ treats him like one of the members of the band, concentrating - thanks to interviews in a very familiar tone - on the friendship and esteem between the members and on the "idle time" when on tour. A series of invaluable archival footage of the tours in the 1960s and 70s is alternated with contemporary shots.
