The first feature film by Watkins, it tells the story of the battle of Culloden, the last battle fought on British soil in 1746 between the Pretender to the throne Charles Edward Stuart and King George II. The director films the battle as though it were a reportage for television and lets members of every class speak, from the generals to the recruits, showing contrasts that few history books and no TV format would ever have brought out.
