Il confine tra finzione e realtà sfuma quando un eccentrico regista decide di riprendere la storia della relazione tra un alcolizzato e una donna con disturbi mentali in un campeggio per roulotte. Il regista ha tratto ispirazione dalla sua personale esperienza di vita in roulotte nel periodo successivo al diploma alla New York University School.

carbuncle non aveva una sceneggiatura iniziale e i dialoghi sono stati improvvisati interamente dagli attori. Tutti lavoravano gratuitamente, ed è stata la disponibilità degli attori e della troupe a decidere il piano delle riprese. Telecamere, luci, cavalletti e location sono stati tutti chiesti in prestito. Il film è stato quasi interamente finanziato con i soldi vinti dal cortometraggio Pornographic Apathetic.

The boundary between fiction and reality blurs when an eccentric director films the story of an alcoholic’s relationship with a mentally challenged woman in a mobile home park. carbuncle was inspired by the director’s own experience living in a mobile home park after graduating from New York University Film School.
“There was no script and and the dialogue was completely improvised by the actors. Everyone worked for free, the shooting schedule depended entirely on the availability of the actors and crew. All of the cameras, lights, props and locations were borrowed. The film was almost entirely funded using prize money from the short film Pornographic Apathetic”.
