Opening and closing ceremonies

The Space Cinema Odeon is the Festival’s home this year. The opening is on Friday 4 at 8 pm with the Italian preview of The Beach Bum (admission with fee). Thursday 10, after the screenings are over, time for the awards: everyone is invited at 8 pm to discover this year’s jury panel’s winners of the 24th edition.



Grazie Maestro! Award to Guido Manuli

Guido Manuli is one of the most important names in italian and milanese films of the last fifty years. With the “Grazie Maestro!” Award, (saturday 5 October at 5.30 pm) the Festival pays him tribute with a program retracing a large and varied corpus of his work, from TV themes to mixedtechnique short films, to the latest digital and 3D experiments. The award is an illustration by Paolo Bacillieri.


Musician and composer of international fame, Michael Nyman uses cinema in his own way, outside the box. A world première to present Nyman’s Earthquakes – “work in progress” ungraded and with temporary sound mix (Sunday 6 at 7:30 pm), a visual score between music and images of earthquakes he will talk about in a masterclass to follow.


From Script to Screen by AIR3 – Associazione Italiana Registi

AIR3, the audio-visual directors’ association, presents 6 films born from two calls for bids – “What Are You Afraid Of?” and “Corti AIR3”. On Sunday 6 at 7:30 pm


Party of the City Cinema School Luchino Visconti

An event that is a certainty, an opportunity for the talents of tomorrow. The students’ 19 graduation films will be screened on Monday 7 at 6:30 pm and there will be a party to celebrate the beginning of the new academic year with the new students and those who have just graduated. Free admission subject to availability.


Do the Right Thing by Spike Lee – in collaboration with Hot Corn

On Tuesday 8 at 10 pm, Do the Right Thing by Spike Lee is back 30 years after its release and restored in 4K, in collaboration with Hot Corn, a masterpiece depicting racial tensions between rap and life on the street.
