Mister Lonely è un giovane americano a Parigi. Si guadagna da vivere come sosia di Michael Jackson. Sentendosi diverso da tutti, gli sembra di vivere sospeso tra due mondi. Un giorno Micheal Jackson incontra Marilyn Monroe. Rapito dalla sua angelica bellezza, la segue in una comune nelle Highlands, dove tutti sono famosi e nessuno invecchia. Nel frattempo, in una foresta in Brasile, una comunità di suore missionarie che portano aiuto e conforto spirituale ai nativi si immolano compiendo uno spettacolare e reiterato miracolo.
Mister Lonely is a young American man lost in Paris. He scratches out a living as a Michael Jackson look-alike. Different from everyone else - he feels as if he's floating between two worlds. One day Michael Jackson meets Marilyn Monroe. Haunted by her angelic beauty he follows her to a commune in the Highlands, a place where everyone is famous and no-one gets old. During this time, in a Brazilian forest, a community of missionary nuns bringing aid and the divine word to the natives, devote themselves to a spectacular, re-occurring miracle.
Note di regia / director' notes“È stato come se Mister Lonely fosse il mio primo film. Mi sono divertito come in nessun’altra occasione, è stata una delle più grandi gioie mai provate, perché avevo lavorato così tanto e così duramente per metterlo insieme. D’altra parte non sono buono a fare altro, non so riparare un’auto o una TV. Fare film mi piace per il caos e l’energia che ne scaturisce. E mi piace la fase di montaggio perché è il momento in cui le cose combaciano, in cui si esercitano controllo e pazienza e si realizzano i sogni”.
“It was almost like Mister Lonely was my first film because I really enjoyed the process even more than my other films. It was one of the greatest joys I’d ever had because I’d worked so hard and so long to try to put this movie together. I’m not any good at anything else. I can’t fix a car or a computer or a television set. I like shooting for the chaos and energy. I love the edit because this is where things come together, this is where you have control and patience and can create the dream”.
