Invisible Japan Introduction
The movies

Introduction
On the occasion of MITO SettembreMusica's focus on Japan, we will launch a season on invisible films from Japan. Successful titles and winners of prestigious awards at the last editions of international film festivals - films that have never been distributed in Italy. Works by renowned cult directors, such as Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Shinya Tsukamoto, will be featured side by side with films by young talents, like Naoko Ogigami and Yoshida Daihachi.
Innovative works, that reinterpret the country's film (and general) culture in the light of the contradictions of Japan's contemporary society.
Besides all that - screened in Italian cinemas for the first time after the recent editions of the Venice film festival - the unreleased Takeshi Kitano trilogy, a triptych of self-referential stories that depict the author's creative crisis in his usual estranging comic style.
