State (T)error - Rules
Submission
1. Submissions for the out-of-competition season State (T)error for the fifteenth Milano Film Festival will open from January 31, 2010. All applicants will have to fill in the online submission form and send a DVD copy of the film, in a dvd box case, within the following 48 hours.
2. The competition is open to films of any genre, language, format and running time. The works will not be divided into categories.
3. In order to be considered for the preselection, submission forms and film copies must be sent to the Milano Film Festival address by May 31st, 2010. The Milano Film Festival reserves the right to anticipate the deadline if too many films are submitted.
4. Filmmakers must send one DVD for each film submitted.
5. The pre-selection copies will not be returned but collected in the Milano Film Festival video archives*. All shipping and postage costs of the preselection copies will be borne by the applicants.
6. The filmmaker and/or producer authorize the publication of their data on the website www.milanofilmfestival.it and on the catalogue, as well as their diffusion through the media for promotional purposes according to the law**.
7. For each film submitted, one free accreditation card will be made available. They will be valid for all the screenings and side events included in the Festival's programme.
*video archive: all the films submitted will be catalogued and made available for consultation; in the event of a public screening, the Milano Film Festival will contact the producers and/or filmmakers.
**according to the DGL 196/2003 (the Italian privacy law) about the use of personal data, we inform that the personal data you're providing with the submission forms will be used by esterni in full respect of the law and they won't be spread nor transmitted to other people. While giving your email address, you'll give your consent to receive information by esterni, about Milano Film Festival and its initiatives.
selection
1. From the films received before the deadline, the Milano Film Festival selection jury will choose the titles that will participate in the out-of-competition season State (T)error of the 15th edition of Milano Film Festival.
2. The official list of the films participating to the State (T)error season will be published on the web site www.milanofilmfestival.it on August 1st, 2010. The filmmakers and/or producers will receive notification via e-mail.
3. The competing filmmakers and/or producers will be invited to take part in the film Re-distribution Project (C) starting from October 2010.
4. The films will be screened, if possible, in the screening format declared in the submission form and will be subtitled both in English and Italian.
5. The filmmakers and/or producers undertake to send:
- by August 5th, via e-mail: the post production script and a detailed technical sheet including a synopsis, a bio-filmography of the filmmaker, photographic material and any other information requested by the Milano Film Festival during the compilation of the catalogue.
- by August 19th: a DVD copy of the film without any subtitles. This copy will be filed in the Festival's archive for security and promotional reasons - it will be screened at the festival in emergency cases, and, after the festival, in the event of a screening of the entire Milano Film Festival artistic programme in another city.
- also by August 19th: a copy of the film in the screening format declared in the submission form, with English subtitles.
- 50 press kits containing material on the film to be handed over to journalists and to the other directors during the event.
6. The shipping cost for returning the screening copies will be borne by the Milano film Festival. The Milano Film Festival accepts no responsibility in the event of loss of film copies after the shipping.
7. The directors and/or producers of the films selected authorize the screening of their film and the diffusion (tv, web) of trailers for the promotion of the event (up to 50 seconds for short films; 3 minutes for feature films).
8. The directors (and/or other members of the crew) of the selected film will be invited to attend the Festival and a free accreditation card will be given to each of them. The Milano Film Festival will contribute to the travel and accommodation expenses according to its means.
Film Re-distribution project
The filmmakers and/or producers of the selected films will be invited to take part in the film Re-distribution Project starting from October 2010. The films - on DVD format with English and Italian subtitles - will be distributed starting from October 2010 all over Italy and Europe in cinemas, film clubs, theatres, libraries, universities and high schools.
The films catalogue, updated until the fourteenth edition of the festival, is available on the website www.ri-distribuzione.it along with all relevant information about the project.
