MITO SettembreMusica and Milano Film Festival present a season dedicated to gypsy film: 8 screenings featuring productions from - among others - Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia, with the aim of telling stories from a little-known world.

Gypsy films don't exist as a category. Or, to be more precise, they are travelling films, with shifty nationalities, productions, and characters. There isn't one single image of the gypsies in films, as they are different according to the eye of the beholder; there is a sunny exuberant image, loud and noisy (typically Kusturica), as well as a sore, melancholy image (Tony Gatlif). A selection of the best films from and about the gypsy world. Films that have never been distributed or inadequately, that will represent a chance to meet and talk about a travelling and shifty identity.
