Immigration day

Immigration day
Programme
Delighted to meet you, immigrant

Introduction
Third edition. Italy is the protagonist, because it is necessary to focus on what happens every day in our country. This year, cinema will look where the media doesn´t - here, where government and local administration policies in matters of immigration - among other things - cause daily incidences of racism. These exhibitions reveal, testify, scrutinise, and give voice to those who are voiceless in the official channels of communication, where the point of view is never varied, never honest, never attentive to the nuances of History and to the other stories - The stories of the invisible, of those who arrive in Italy every day and every night, without documentation, and therefore without rights, without hope of acceptance and inclusion; of those who stay in this country to work, to live in the cities, to share the schools, the streets, the public places. Whether in Rosarno or in Milan, it makes little difference. History is the same, and is written by inhumane laws and by living conditions every day. Meanwhile, our ability to react, such as in this occasion, can be reborn thanks to documentaries which portray the reality of events. An important contribution has also been made here by Gabriele del Gande, journalist and author of the outstanding Il mare di mezzo, who for many years on his blog fortresseurope.blogspot.com, carries on fundamental work observing the victims of immigration in Italy and Europe. For the festival, del Grande has selected a series of short videos which go into further depth and complete with very topical materials the issues covered by the documentaries in the section.
