Milano Film Festival 2004 pays particular attention to the Italian short film production, presenting a selection of films out of competition along with the five selected shorts. Italian get-togethers, thus, aims at becoming a meeting point, a seminar in which the filmmakers can meet and discuss about their work with the audience and above all with their colleagues. The ten short films are very representative because of the filmmakers’ age, the traditional and interesting production environments, the shooting formats, the genres and subjects. They are the result of a current trend, i.e. producing quality films, or at least trying, conceiving stories or using new technologies with a greater commitment and awareness. Moreover, they prove that even independent productions tend to look for funding during post-production, and that directors, often very young, are able to create important collaborations and to promote a strong idea of cinema.
