RETROSPECTIVES AND TRIBUTES
Retrospective on Jonathan Demme
The 16th edition retrospective is dedicated to Jonathan Demme, a key figure of contemporary American cinema from the 70s until today. Demme will be a special guest at the festival and will teach a lesson on cinema that is open to the general public.
Tribute to Randall Poster
The sixteenth edition of the Milano Film Festival pays tribute to Randall Poster, the cult music supervisor of American cinema of the last twenty years. Randall Poster will be presenting five of his works along with five classics of American cinema that have been a great source of inspiration for his professional growth.

The Outsiders
The special section of Milano Film Festival: premieres, unseen films, works without distribution, restored masterpieces, midnight screenings. If it does not fit anywhere else, it's an outsider.

In collaboration with Nastro Azzurro. Cinema that tells the story of today's Italy
Soundoc
In collaboration with In Edit Beafeeter Bercellona. A documentary journey through the world of music, this year's focus is dedicated to Vincent Moon. A selection of his films will be screened as well as a new production realized specially for the festival.
Immigration day
In collaboration with NAGA. A day dedicated to the issues of immigration, with special screening for high school students, documentaries, interviews, and a special selection of films on the realities of immigration.
FOCUS
Focus on Animation
A film marathon, a workshop with young european animators, a focus on a national school of thought on animation, and the premiere of a feature animated film.
The Earth Shakes
In collaboration with MITO Settembre Musica. From Raoul Peck to Charles Najman, a look into the culture and mestizo soul of a country imbued with ancestral memories and contemporary urgencies.
VerniXage
The intersection between cinema and contemporary art: an opportunity to to take stock of artists who use film to express themselves. A study of artistic vision that stradles two visual worlds.

FAI il tuo film
In collaboration with FAI and Intesa Sanpaolo. A new film project to produce 3 short fils on 3 Luoghi del Cuore (places of the heart) and one film event on the environmental preservation.
Planetaria
In collabration with CAP Holding.A special preview of a film that explores the exploitation of global water resources.

In collaboration with Anfiteatro Lab. A parallel festival for the little ones, with screenings, workshops, and mornings at the cinema for elementary school students.
