The 400 sips

A short film competition where water is the protagonist.

The water as an essential resource for life on the planet and as element of sociability: from public laundries to fountains, there are many places related to water that create community, around which stories develop, where a love can be born or end.

The film selected tell these stories, and help us to rediscover how every day, in every moment, the water is a good we could never do without.

Starting October 2014 the selected films will be availabe online to be watched and commented by the audience. In December 2014, a jury composed by Milano Film Festival, Gruppo CAP and Metropolitana Milanese will choose the best film. The winning film will receive a money prize of 2000 euros.

We approach the entrails of the cyclical system below the décor – a glimpse into the mechanics of the everyday.

Water is spilled on a stone pavement leaving a small stain. As time passes the stain dries up, shrinks and changes shape. Just before the water is completely evaporated the process is put on hold. The new shape of the stain is then being enlarged and recreated with new water. This process repeats and with these interventions the \\\"life\\\" of the stain is artificially refreshed and extended to an unnatural length. Which allows new shapes to evolve that otherwise could never have existed.

The director produced the film as a contribution to Viva con Agua Austria, a non profit organisation that is engaged in one of the biggest challenges of the 21th century: acces to drinking water.
